Bars in Mayfair: Your Guide to Stylish Nights Out

You’ve got a free evening. Maybe your client dinner finished early. Maybe you just want to enjoy one of London’s best areas. Either way, you’re in Mayfair—and you’re not sure where to start.

It’s a surprisingly common problem.

Mayfair has no shortage of places to drink. But knowing which bars are actually worth your time — the ones that match the occasion, the company, and the standard you expect — is a different matter entirely.

We’ve spent years navigating this neighbourhood for exactly that reason.

At City Butterflies, London’s premier escort agency for over two decades, our clients know Mayfair well. And so do our elite ladies.

Here’s our honest take on the bars and restaurants in Mayfair that are actually worth your time.

What Makes Mayfair Different

Bordered by Green Park to the south, Oxford Street to the north, Hyde Park to the west, and Regent Street to the east, Mayfair is one of the most expensive and sought-after postcodes in the world. The hotels are legendary. The restaurants hold Michelin stars. And the bars — the best of them — carry a sense of occasion that’s hard to find anywhere else in London.

This isn’t a neighbourhood for a quick pint. It’s for evenings that mean something.

The Bars

The Connaught Bar — Carlos Place, W1K 2AL

If you only visit one bar in Mayfair, make it this one.

Ranked No. 6 in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, the Connaught Bar has appeared on that list an extraordinary 16 times — a record unmatched by any other bar in the world. That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident.

Designed by David Collins, the bar’s interior is a study in understated glamour: dark green leather, marble floors, mirrored panels, and soft lighting that flatters everyone in the room. The signature Connaught Martini — mixed tableside from a bespoke trolley, with your choice of bitters — has become something of a London institution.

The team here are exceptional. Knowledgeable without being pretentious, attentive without hovering. It’s the kind of bar where the evening slows down in the best possible way.

The Coburg Bar — The Connaught, Carlos Place, W1K 2AL

Just across the lobby from the Connaught Bar sits its quieter, more intimate sibling — and it’s equally worth knowing about.

The Coburg Bar is Mayfair’s finest whisky destination, with a compendium of rare and collectable single malts that will satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur. The Macallan TIME : SPACE — featuring an 84-year-old 1940 vintage — is among the highlights. Guided whisky tastings, led by a resident whisky sommelier and paired with artisan cheeses, are available for those who want to go deeper.

But the Coburg is more than a whisky bar. Classic cocktails from forgotten eras, an exceptional champagne list, and a menu of refined small plates make it equally suited to a long, leisurely afternoon or a late-night nightcap. Plush velvet armchairs, Julian Opie cameos on the wood panelling, and a warm fireplace complete the picture.

Walk-ins welcome. No reservations required.

The Fumoir at Claridge’s — Brook Street, W1K 4HR

Hidden in plain sight since 1929, The Fumoir is one of those places that rewards those who know to look for it.

Tucked within the iconic Art Deco grandeur of Claridge’s, this intimate cocktail bar has a quiet confidence about it. The space is small — deliberately so — with an atmosphere that makes conversation feel private and the evening feel like it belongs only to you. Artfully mixed cocktails, a carefully considered spirits list, and service that is, as you’d expect from Claridge’s, impeccable.

For a pre-dinner drink, a discreet rendezvous, or simply a moment of quiet sophistication away from the world, The Fumoir is hard to beat.

Claridge’s Bar — the hotel’s larger, Art Deco main bar — is equally impressive, with an exceptional champagne selection and a seasonal terrace. Worth knowing about for larger groups or a more social setting.

DUKES Bar — 35 St James’s Place, SW1A 1NY

Tucked down a quiet side street since 1908, DUKES is a place of ritual and craft. It is best known for its martinis — served from a trolley, using frozen spirits and frozen glasses, with theatrical precision. Ian Fleming was a regular, and it’s widely credited as one of the inspirations behind Bond’s famous “shaken, not stirred.”

Beyond the martinis, the bar offers a thoughtful selection of classic cocktails and a French 75 that’s among the best in the city. The room is small, the atmosphere hushed, and the presentation of every drink is immaculate. Expect to pay accordingly — and to feel it was worth it.

Where to Dine: Mayfair’s Most Impressive Restaurants

A great evening in Mayfair rarely stops at drinks. The neighbourhood’s dining scene is among the finest in Europe, and a handful of restaurants stand in a category of their own.

Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester — 53 Park Lane, W1K 1QA

Three Michelin stars. Retained since 2010. Named among the most memorable dining experiences in the 2025/2026 Michelin Guide.

Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester is, by any measure, one of the great restaurants of the world. The dining room — designed by Patrick Jouin — is quietly opulent, with a private Table Lumière that seats up to seven for the most exclusive of occasions. Chef Patron Jean-Philippe Blondet leads a kitchen that produces contemporary French cuisine of exceptional refinement: hand-dived scallop with citrus beurre blanc, langoustine ravioli with shellfish, and native lobster prepared with the precision you’d expect at this level.

A team of professional sommeliers oversees one of London’s finest wine lists. Advance booking is essential.

Hélène Darroze at The Connaught — Carlos Place, W1K 2AL

Also within The Connaught, Hélène Darroze’s restaurant holds three Michelin stars and offers a tasting menu that draws on produce from small artisan suppliers across France, Spain, and the British Isles. The dining room is warm and characterful — coral walls, large bay windows, colourful chairs — and the cooking is deeply personal, rooted in the chef’s Gascon heritage.

For a special occasion dinner that feels both celebratory and intimate, this is one of Mayfair’s very best.

Planning the Perfect Evening

The natural rhythm of a Mayfair evening tends to look something like this: cocktails at the Connaught Bar or The Fumoir, dinner at Alain Ducasse or Hélène Darroze, and a nightcap at the Coburg or DUKES. It’s an itinerary that requires no compromises — every venue is exceptional in its own right.

The neighbourhood rewards those who know it. The best tables, the quieter corners of the best bars, the moments that feel genuinely private — these things come with familiarity.

Our Westminster escorts know this part of London intimately. They understand its rhythms, its venues, and the kind of company that makes an evening in Mayfair feel exactly what it should.
