Things to do in Paddington

Located north of the River Thames in central London, Paddington is a cosmopolitan district that is home to one of the busiest train stations in the city. The Puppet Theatre Barge is a 55-seat floating theatre in Paddington which hosts numerous marionette performances and traditional plays and fairy tales by popular writers including Federico Garcia Lorca and Shakespeare. This charming theatre is open all year round and mostly attracts families with children.

 

The Alexander Fleming Museum

The Alexander Fleming Museum

Located by the canal on South Wharf Road, the Alexander Fleming Museum is the place where Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. In 1945, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine. The tour of the museum includes a visit to the restored laboratory where Alexander worked.

 

Paddington Bear

Situated at the Paddington Mainline Station, Paddington Bear is one of the most popular attractions in Paddington. Created by the British sculptor Marcus Cornish, this bronze statue is located under the clock on Platform 1. This is the place where the fictional bear from the much-loved children’s book had supposedly arrived with just a small suitcase. Travellers will find a small shop at the station which is dedicated to the Paddington bear and sells gifts and souvenirs.

Little Venice is a picturesque neighbourhood in Paddington that boasts a few waterside cafes, intimate restaurants, and authentic British pubs. Going on a boat ride is definitely one of the best ways to explore the beautiful canals and waterways of Little Venice. Opened in 1979, Canal Café Theatre is an award-winning café that sits right above the lovely Bridge House Pub in Paddington. This 60-seater venue hosts many comedy shows and has launched some of the biggest names in the comedy world. It’s an ideal place to grab a drink and hosts the famous NewsRevue.
